Diabetes Self-Management Education Program
Whether you are newly diagnosed, or have been living with diabetes, you can learn more about improving your quality of life and preventing diabetes-related complications.
Our ongoing programs are led by a nurse and dietitian team committed to providing quality education and self-care skills to help patients self-manage their diabetes. There are separate, interactive courses specific to Type I, Type II, and gestational diabetes. Courses consist of four group classes over a span of three months. 8th Annual WWAMI Idaho Mini Medical School
The WWAMI Idaho Office for Clinical Medical Education, in partnership with University of Washington School of Medicine’s physician faculty from Seattle and Idaho, will present a series of lectures over a five-week period running February 19 to March 19, every Thursday from
7-9 p.m.
This year's talks will focus on Women’s Health. Through LIVE interactive videoconferencing from Boise, and facilitated by our very own St. Luke's Wood River physicians, this series is presented at a level of understanding suitable for the general population.

- The anatomy and physiology of the female body
- Breast cancer epidemiology
- Breast cancer detection
- Surgical and chemotherapy treatments
- Dysfunctional uterine bleeding

What’s Happening to Me?
A puberty class for girls ages 9-12 and their parents
Puberty is a time of change for kids – and parents! This three-week series is a fun and interactive way to help girls and their parents get a better idea about the bodily changes and emotional ups and downs that accompany early adolescence.
Topics include anatomy and physiology, emotional and physical changes, human reproduction, relationships with parents and friends, hygiene, body image, and self-esteem. Experts in adolescent health will address concerns, including factual responses to questions about boys and girls. Girls must by accompanied by a parent
– Mom and Dad are both welcome to attend.

Be the Change Diversity Training
To address the changes in our community, St. Luke’s YAK! is offering a small retreat and a panel to create dialogue discussing diversity issues. The retreat will affirm the human dignity of all people and teach proactive behaviors to help create an accepting community. At the end of the sessions, an action plan will be created to improve cultural competency in our community.
