Volunteering

The Value of Volunteers

Volunteers are an indispensable part of the care at St. Luke’s. By giving the gift of time, volunteers help make a difference for each and every one of our patients. From providing wheelchair assistance to delivering flowers, more than 550 St. Luke’s volunteers play a vital role in the daily operations of the medical center.

How to Become a Volunteer

If you would like to become a part of the St. Luke’s family of volunteers, please call (208) 381-2265 or simply fill out an application and mail or return it to St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center, 190 East Bannock Street, Boise, ID 83712.

No Experience Necessary: It’s Easy – and Fun!

Volunteering at St. Luke’s is a great way to expand your horizons, meet new friends, and help others. Most volunteer services are performed once a week in two- to four-hour shifts during daytime and evening hours.

Every volunteer receives on-the-job training and a general orientation to get you started. And we make every effort to match your skills and interests to an appropriate service.

Benefits of Volunteering

By taking the time to help others, we help ourselves. Volunteering boosts our self-esteem, improves our mental and emotional health, and provides endless opportunities for meeting other volunteers with similar interests. Along with all of this, volunteering at St. Luke’s also provides more tangible benefits, such as:

  • Food Service voucher (value $1.75)
  • Cafeteria discount with photo ID
  • Flu shots (when available)
  • Annual TB test
